Turoa Ski Area, Mt Ruapehu

Wild, playful and mighty. Turoa is home to Mt Ruapehu's south-west facing slopes, which are renowned for huge snow bases, unique volcanic terrain, wide trails & epic terrain parks.

Mountain Biking

The most popular year-round pursuit is mountain biking, particularly on the spectacular half-day Ohakune Old Coach Road. It forms the start of the Mountains to Sea, a multi-day Great Ride that winds more than 200km to reach Whanganui and the Tasman Sea.

Canoe Safaris Rangitikei River Adventures

We offer one to five day fully guided and catered canoe tours along the Rangitikei River which carves its way through the steep deep gorges of the Kaimanawa and Ruahine ranges on its journey to the Tasman Sea. Canoe and Kayak rental also available.

Ruapehu Golf

Play Waimarino golf club’s par 72 championship parkland course in the heart of Ruapehu. At 580 mtrs above sea level (NZ's 2nd highest golf course), in the backdrop of Mt Ruapehu enjoy watching your ball travel further than ever before.

Waitinga Falls Walk

11kms out of Ohakune up the Ohakune Mountain Road sits this gem of a track for all levels of fitness with a return journey of just over 4kms. The 39 m Waitonga Falls is Tongariro National Park’s highest waterfall.

Serving gourmet hamburgers cooked on a distinctive custom wood fire grill by night and bake house by day The wood fired grill introduces a subtle manuka smokiness that enhances the overall flavour of the burger. All burgers are made from fresh quality ingredients that are cooked to order. Takeaway only. Open from 4pm-8.30pm.
